FAQs

Emergency electrician questions

How much does an emergency electrician cost?

A £49 call-out fee applies for us to attend and provide an on-site quote, and you are given a price for the job before any work begins. The exact cost depends on the fault, but simple jobs like resetting a fuse board or replacing a socket are typically resolved in a single visit.

Is a power cut always an emergency?

Not always - check whether neighbouring properties have also lost power, which usually points to a network cut rather than a fault in your home. If only your property has lost power, or you can smell burning or see sparking, treat it as an emergency and call us straight away.

What should I do if my fuse board keeps tripping?

Switch off and unplug appliances one at a time, then try resetting the board after each one to isolate the faulty circuit. If it trips again with everything unplugged, or you cannot identify the cause, stop and call an emergency electrician rather than repeatedly resetting it.

Can you attend if the fault appeared after recent DIY electrical work?

Yes. Our electricians regularly attend faults caused by DIY wiring, and will isolate the affected circuit safely, explain what's gone wrong, and advise on what needs correcting before any further work is carried out.

Are your electricians insured?

Yes. Every electrician dispatched through our service carries public liability insurance, and is vetted for experience before joining our network.

Do you attend rented properties for landlords and letting agents?

Yes. We regularly attend on behalf of landlords and managing agents, including out-of-hours faults reported by tenants, and can liaise directly with whoever holds responsibility for the property if a written report or follow-up is required.
